Precast/Prestressed Girder Help

Loads Tab

Any dead loads on precast are considered to be acting on the specific individual beam lengths, and the moment and shear values computed accordingly. Dead loads on composite act on the continuous beam model and are distributed to individual beams using the dead load distribution factors specified/computed on the Analysis tab. Precast/Prestressed Girder continues to use the 2-D beam model for computing moments and shears due to the live loads, and then applies the appropriate live load distribution factors as computed per the selected code specifications. Live Load is computed on the continuous beam model as defined in the Layout dialog box; the shear and moment values are transposed to the corresponding tenth points on each beam in the span, after proper application of the live load factors, distribution factors and impact factors.
